Thank You!

We would like to thank all of the participants, volunteers, supporters and sponsors for making Race For A Soldier a huge success for a third year in a row! The turnout of half-marathon runners was way up from last year, and our active soldier turnout incredible.

Though the weather has taken a bit of a turn, if our soldiers can train and perform in imperfect conditions so can we. Thus, we are happy to say the race is a go and we look forward to seeing you there!

We are so pleased to have the support of Leslie and the entire RFAS crew. With your support we have been able to serve over 130 riders since our pilot program in 2010 and currently serve over 60 riders each week. We opened up a Family Support Program this last fall to help serve the spouses and children of our wounded warriors and are seeing amazing successes from bringing the entire family into the healing process.

We are gearing up for our Spring 2013 riding session beginning in April and in July will be hosting our second annual RTR Overnight Adventure Camping Event. Last years event we had over 25 warriors with us for an overnight camp out and trail rides in the Nicholson Horse Park wilderness at the base of Mt. Rainier. This was an amazing event for many of these riders, and for many, a once in a lifetime event.

Heartbeat Serving Wounded Warriors mission is “At Heartbeat, we provide emergency assistance, morale building, and innovative therapeutic services for wounded warriors and their families.” To that end, in order to provide these programs we depend on support from the community.

Leslie Mayne, Founder of Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation and Race For A Soldier is one of those people in the community that leads by example where our Warriors are concerned. Heartbeat is so grateful for the wonderful and awesome support financially that Race For A Soldier has provided the last 2 years. The monies donated from this race have enabled us to continue to say yes to our Wounded Warrior families through our programs. We could not do what we do without this generous support. Leslie is transparent in her support of our wounded and puts her heart and soul into this very effort. Heartbeat is honored to be associated with her and her organization.

Below are 3 different stories that illustrate how Leslie’s organization has helped us to say yes!
